Join the festivities at Willesden Green this weekend!
There’s a lot of exciting stuff going on around Willesden Green at the moment, not least next weekend, when two local projects will be hosting a weekend of arts, music, games and workshops, at Willesden Green Library Centre and along the High Road, and the Archives will be joining the festivities with a free local history talk and quiz.
On Friday night (16 December), join us for a free talk by local historian Ed Fordham on the ‘Famous People of Kilburn’ and festive local history quiz. The event will be in the Brent Museum and Archives Education Room, on the ground floor at Willesden Green Library Centre from 6.30pm-8pm, so come along to find out more about intriguing stories of the local area, and the chance to win a prize!
On Saturday 17 December, ‘Winter @ The Greenhouse’ will be a seasonal celebration of the exciting work that has been going on at Willesden Green Library Centre as part of the Greenhouse Project, with art and food markets, artists in residence, family workshops, games, choir and a performance from Kensal Rise Primary ECCO Orchestra. Come to the Library Centre between 12pm-5pm to take part and find out more.
Also throughout the weekend of Saturday 17 -18 December, events will be taking place as part of the New Windows on Willesden Green project. If you live or work locally, you may have noticed the advent calendar display of designer shop fronts on the High Road and Walm Lane, appearing every day since the start of December. Find out more while you enjoy a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie by visiting the Pilot Shop at 45 Walm Lane, or take part in one of the creative workshops, walking tours and other activities taking place across the weekend – for more details, visit the project website at www.willesdenwindows.com.
