Introducing the Becoming Brent Community Fund: Explore Brent’s Heritage and Shape Its Future
Are you passionate about Brent’s diverse history and eager to share your perspective on its rich heritage? The Becoming Brent, Community Fund is here to help you bring those ideas to life!
Brent is an incredibly vibrant borough, alive with a tapestry of cultures and communities, each contributing to the borough’s unique character. Thanks to funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and Brent Council, Becoming Brent responds to the1924 and 1925 British Empire Exhibition’s legacy and impact on borough by inviting you to explore and share the stories of the area in new and exciting ways.
Whether you’re a Brent local, an individual or a community group, or someone connected to the borough, this fund is a great opportunity to:
- Share untold stories or dive into those lesser-known aspects of Brent’s history,
- Celebrate Brent’s neighbourhoods – from Alperton to Harlesden to Willesden Green to Wembley and beyond,
- Explore the connections between Brent’s past and present,
- Bring people together and empower your community to connect with heritage and each other.
- And more…
What Projects Are We Looking For?
The Becoming Brent, Community Fund supports a wide variety of heritage projects, from local history walking tours to creative workshops and exhibitions. We are especially interested in projects that:
- Empower people to discuss and reflect on challenging historical themes,
- Foster a sense of representation within Brent Museum and Archives,
- Encourage welcoming and inclusive spaces, showcasing Brent’s many voices.
This is an opportunity to make a lasting impact on the borough’s heritage landscape! If you have ideas that resonate with these goals, Becoming Brent is here to support you. See the guidance and the pages on BrentPeoplesMuseum.org for ideas.
