Upcoming talks

We are always pleased to be able to tell you about talks at Brent Museum and Brent Archives, and this week, we have two coming up. As you may know, last Sunday, 22 January, was Holocaust Memorial Day, and as part of the borough’s commemorative events, local resident and writer Akin Shenbanjo Jr. will be giving a talk entitled ‘The Black experience in Nazi Germany and wartime Europe’. The talk, held in collaboration with Brent Libraries, will be at 7pm on Thursday 26 January.

An altogether different but no less fascinating talk will be held the day before, at 6.30pm on Wednesday 25 January. Join local historians Dick Weindling and Marianne Colloms, for a talk entitled ‘The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: Interesting characters buried at Paddington Cemetery’. The talk, in advance of their forthcoming book on the cemetery, promises to be a revealing insight into the stories of some of the notable and colourful characters buried there. Both events will be held at Willesden Green Library Centre and are free of charge, with no booking required.

So, we hope you’ll be as intrigued as we are, and look forward to seeing you later this week!
