Launching a new book on the reservoir

If you’ve ever visited Brent Archives to find out more about your local history, you may well have read a book or pamphlet by local historian Geoff Hewlett for your research, or perhaps even met Geoff as he researches a book or a talk. He has written widely on the local area, and several of his books and publications are available in the local history library reference collections, as well as for sale in the Archives, many of them featuring images from our collections, as well as information gleaned from his research in the Archives.

Geoff’s latest book, entitled ‘The Welsh Harp Reservoir Through Time’ looks back at the history of Brent’s famous man-made lake, through archive and modern photographs. You can meet him and listen to an illustrated history talk about the fascinating history of the reservoir at Kingsbury Library Plus on Friday 25 November at 10.30am. The talk, part of the libraries’ ‘Chatabout’ series, is free, but advanced booking is required as space is limited. Tickets are available from all Brent libraries, or call 020 8937 3520.
