Visitor caption # 17
This week we’re looking at the landscape paintings by Louis Wain, most of which he painted throughout his time in hospital. Many visitors to the exhibition already familar with Wain’s art have been amazed by his landscape paintings, having expected to find only illustrations of cats on display. As you can see, his artistic skill and bold use of colour extended far beyond the remit of cat paintings.

Visitor caption: This fantastical landscape takes me far far away from dreary London, to a much more magical place. I wonder if it helped Louis Wain escape too.
