Kilburn History Festival

Kilburn High Road, early 20th century

As you may know, Kilburn, which is split by the boundaries between the boroughs of Brent, Camden, and Westminster, is an area with a long and fascinating history. From Watling Street, the ancient roman road which ran along the route of the modern Kilburn High Road, and the medieval priory that developed alongside it, to the windmill which could once be seen onShoot-Up Hill, there is much to celebrate in Kilburn’s local history.

The Kilburn History Festival, which aims to do just this, will take place from
Wednesday 6th – Sunday 10th July, with a series of talks, walks and guided tours round interesting and significant local buildings.

Talks will be held at St Mary’s Church, Abbey Road, NW6, at 7.30pm (please arrive from 7pm) on the following dates:

Saturday 9th July Lived here and Loved it (famous people of Kilburn) – Dick Weindling
