Join our award-winning volunteer team!
Last week one of our volunteer leaders, Akin Shenbanjo, represented the team at the 2011 London Volunteers in Museums Awards. It was a glitzy affair at the Museum of London with Munira Mirza, Advisor on Arts and Culture to the Mayor of London, opening the ceremony.
The London Volunteers in Museums Awards was launched in 2009 to celebrate and reward the excellent work that volunteers achieve in London Museums. Since then, Brent Museum volunteers have received recognition for their invaluable contributions every year. In 2009, Karolina Zawadzka won the award for the ‘Going the Extra Mile’ category for the hard work and commitment she showed towards Brent Museum. 2010 saw Christopher Robertson receiving a Highly Commended award in the ‘Developing in a Role’ category. And this year our entire front of house volunteer team came runners up in the ‘Best Team Contribution’ category!
If you, or anyone you know, are interested in volunteering at Brent Museum or Brent Archives then please do not hesitate to get in touch (museum@brent.gov.uk, archives@brent.gov.uk). We have opportunities for volunteers to invigilate exhibitions, promote events and activities, as well as helping with visiting school parties. You will need to be confident and actively enjoy meeting the public, and have a passion for heritage. Opportunities are available during weekdays and weekends.
We look forward to welcoming you into our volunteer team!
